3d Seismic Data Processing with Complex Non Separable Multidimensional Lapped Transforms

چکیده
To help geologists in interpreting seismic data, we proposed in a previous article to perform directional filtering using oversampled complex lapped transforms. This 2D transform is extended in this paper to L dimensions, thus allowing to process 3D seismic data. We also propose a method to evaluate the relative importance of different orientations in seismic data. This evaluation is used to reduce potential errors in directional filtering, by adapting the processing to the ordered/disordered nature of data. Visual comparison between the former and the proposed methods are provided and show that chaotic areas are better preserved, while in ordered areas noise is accurately removed.

A lapped directional transform for spectral image analysis and its application to restoration and enhancement
We describe a new real-valued lapped transform for 2D-signal and image processing. Lapped transforms are particuiarly useful in block-based processing, since their overlapping basis functions reduce or prevent block artifacts. Our transform is derived from the moduiated lapped transform (MLT), which is a real-valued and separable transform. Like the discrete cosine transform, the MLT does not a...

We propose a new real-valued lapped transform for 2Dsignal and image processing. Lapped transforms are particularly useful in block-based processing, since their intrinsically overlapping basis functions reduce or prevent block artifacts. Our transform is derived from the modulated lapped transform (MLT), which, as a real-valued and separable transform like the Discrete Cosine Transform, does n...

Seismic waves are non-stationary due to its propagation through the earth. Time-frequency transforms are suitable tools for analyzing non-stationary seismic signals. Spectral decomposition can reveal the non-stationary characteristics which cannot be easily observed in the time or frequency representation alone. Various types of spectral decomposition methods have been introduced by some resear...

Parabolic scaling and anisotropic dilation form the core of famous multi-resolution transformations such as curvelet and shearlet, which are widely used in signal processing applications like denoising. These non-adaptive geometrical wavelets are commonly used to extract structures and geometrical features of multi-dimensional signals and preserve them in noise removal treatments. In discrete s...
